Rome Basilica di San Clemente

San Clemente is the first Basilica in Rome. It was built from the ordinary house from the second century till the fifth century. Then it was rebuilt at 1099-1120 after many things happened to the building. This basilica was named by San Clemente, the third successor of Saint Peter the Apostle. The story of San Clemente (92-101 AD) is very little. According to the oldest list of Roman bishops, he was the third successor to St Peter in Rome. He is the author of an Epistle to the Corinthians which was written circa 96 AD in the name of the Church of Rome to deal with disturbances in the Church at Corinth.
