A human-centered liturgical lighting study for Jakarta Cathedral exploring how lighting influences worship experience, sacred atmosphere, visual hierarchy, and spiritual perception within a historic cathedral environment.

Through a series of before-and-after comparisons, this project demonstrates how thoughtful architectural lighting design transformed Jakarta Cathedral by improving visual comfort, sacred atmosphere, liturgical focus, architectural perception, and the overall worship experience while respecting its heritage significance.

With great enthusiasm in welcoming the Apostolic Visit of Pope Francis to Jakarta Cathedral in September 2024, ALTA Integra contributed to improving the cathedral’s interior lighting quality through a mock-up lighting study exploring sacred atmosphere, visual hierarchy, architectural depth, color rendering, and human-centered worship experience within one of Indonesia’s most important religious heritage buildings.
