Messe Frankfurt
Light + Building 2026
(March, 2026)
My visit to Light + Building 2026 at Messe Frankfurt provided an opportunity to directly experience one of the world’s most influential platforms for lighting, building technology, and intelligent connected environments. Bringing together global manufacturers, designers, engineers, researchers, and industry leaders, the exhibition showcased emerging innovations in lighting design, smart building systems, digital infrastructure, electrification, sustainability, and human-centered environments. The event highlighted how technological advancement is increasingly integrated with design, wellness, energy performance, and occupant experience to shape the future of the built environment.
Beyond exploring new products and technologies, the visit offered valuable insight into international industry trends, professional dialogue, and cross-disciplinary collaboration. Through exhibitions, technical presentations, and discussions with global experts, Light + Building 2026 reinforced the importance of holistic building performance—where lighting, acoustics, audiovisual technology, environmental quality, smart systems, and sustainability work together as an integrated ecosystem. The experience continues to strengthen our commitment to delivering human-centered performance engineering solutions that connect technology, design, and well-being in meaningful ways.
Technology Update
DataKustik Cadna Acoustic Software System
The DataKustik company visit provided valuable insight into the development of CadnaA, CadnaB, and CadnaR—advanced acoustic modeling platforms widely used for environmental noise prediction, building acoustics evaluation, and indoor sound simulation. The experience offered a deeper understanding of how digital acoustic modeling technologies help architects, engineers, consultants, and urban planners predict sound behavior, evaluate acoustic performance, and support data-driven decision-making throughout the design and planning process.
Beyond exploring the software capabilities, the visit reinforced the growing importance of integrating environmental acoustics, building physics, and human-centered design within contemporary built environments. Learning how outdoor noise propagation, building sound insulation, and room acoustic performance can be analyzed within a connected simulation workflow highlighted the role of predictive acoustic modeling in creating healthier, more comfortable, and more sustainable spaces for people to live, work, learn, and connect.
Architectural Insights from
Paul Noritake Tange
Attending the presentation by Paul Noritaka Tange with Ikatan Arsitek Indonesia (IAI) in 2023 provided a valuable opportunity to gain direct insight into the design philosophy behind the iconic Cocoon Tower in Tokyo. As one of the most recognized examples of contemporary educational architecture, the project demonstrates how architectural expression, structural innovation, and urban identity can be integrated into a highly functional learning environment. The session offered a deeper understanding of how visionary design can respond to the challenges of dense urban contexts while creating meaningful spaces that inspire creativity, collaboration, and future generations.
Beyond the architectural achievement itself, the discussion highlighted the importance of interdisciplinary thinking, long-term vision, and human-centered design in shaping the built environment. Learning directly from Paul Noritaka Tange reinforced the value of architecture as both a technical and cultural practice—one that influences how people experience cities, education, and community. The event became an inspiring exchange of ideas that continues to inform our perspective on design excellence, innovation, and the evolving role of architecture in society.
Technology Update
NTi Audio XL3 Acoustic Measurement
As part of our commitment to continuous learning and technical excellence, we explored the capabilities of the NTi Audio XL3 Acoustic Analyzer, one of the industry's advanced platforms for professional acoustic measurement and analysis. The technology integrates sound level monitoring, spectrum analysis, room acoustics evaluation, speech intelligibility assessment, and building acoustic testing, enabling a more comprehensive understanding of how sound behaves within the built environment.
The visit provided valuable insight into the latest developments in acoustic measurement technology and reinforced the importance of data-driven decision-making in acoustic consulting. By continuously expanding our knowledge of emerging tools and methodologies, we strengthen our ability to deliver more accurate acoustic assessments, support evidence-based design strategies, and create healthier, more comfortable, and better-performing environments for building occupants.
Technology Update
Erco Light Factory
The ERCO Light Factory Visit provided a unique opportunity to gain first-hand insight into how one of the world's leading architectural lighting manufacturers develops innovative lighting solutions for the built environment. From optical engineering and product development to manufacturing processes and lighting applications, the visit offered a deeper understanding of the technologies and design philosophies that shape contemporary architectural lighting.
Beyond exploring lighting products, the experience reinforced the importance of perception-oriented and human-centered lighting design. Learning how light can influence visual comfort, spatial experience, architectural expression, and sustainability provided valuable perspectives that continue to inform our approach to creating healthier, more meaningful, and higher-performing environments through integrated lighting design and building performance engineering.
