At Light + Building Frankfurt 2026, the global building industry gathered to explore the future of lighting, smart building technologies, electrical infrastructure, sustainability, and connected environments. Held at Messe Frankfurt from 8–13 March 2026, the event showcased innovations that are transforming how buildings perform, interact, and support human well-being.

As a Building Physics and Technology Consultant, I participated to examine emerging trends in human-centric lighting, intelligent building systems, building automation, energy efficiency, occupant experience, and integrated design strategies. The insights gained reinforce the importance of combining architecture, acoustics, lighting, thermal comfort, digital infrastructure, and sustainability into a cohesive high-performance built environment.

Through advanced acoustic imaging, sound source localization, and real-time analysis, the technology supports building diagnostics, acoustic investigations, environmental noise assessment, and human-centered building performance engineering.

The DataKustik company visit provided valuable insight into the integration of CadnaA, CadnaB, and CadnaR acoustic simulation platforms used worldwide for environmental noise prediction, building acoustics planning, and indoor sound analysis. The experience reinforced the growing importance of predictive acoustic modeling in supporting healthier, more sustainable, and human-centered built environments through data-driven design and performance engineering.

Participation in IRCAM Forum 2025 provided valuable exposure to the latest developments in sound innovation, immersive audio, artificial intelligence, spatial acoustics, interactive technologies, and digital creativity. The event brought together an international community of researchers, artists, engineers, and technologists exploring how sound continues to shape the future of human experience, architecture, and technology.

The Extron Enterprise Technology Workshop provided valuable insight into the future of enterprise audiovisual systems, workplace collaboration technologies, AV-over-IP infrastructure, and smart building integration. The experience reinforced the importance of connecting technology, architecture, acoustics, and user experience to create more efficient, flexible, and human-centered environments.

The event provided valuable insight into how integrated technology ecosystems are shaping the future of human-centered, connected, and high-performance environments.

Paul Noritake Tange presented Cocoon Tower Architecture. The building is home to three educational institutions: Tokyo Mode Gakuen Fashion Vocational School, HAL Tokyo Special Technology & Design College, and Shuto Ikō Medical College. It was awarded the 2008 Skyscraper of the Year by Emporis.

Meeting Sou Fujimoto provided valuable insight into the philosophy of Primitive Future and its vision for architecture that reconnects people, nature, and space. The discussion explored how future architecture can become more adaptable, human-centered, and environmentally responsive while creating meaningful relationships between technology, culture, and everyday experience.

Meeting Kengo Kuma provided valuable insight into the relationship between architecture, nature, materiality, and human experience. Known internationally for his sensitive and context-driven design philosophy, Kengo Kuma’s work highlights how architecture can create meaningful connections between people, culture, environment, and place while responding to contemporary challenges in sustainability and building performance.

Through the adoption of the NTi Audio XL3 Acoustic Analyzer, we continue advancing our capability to evaluate room acoustics, environmental noise, speech intelligibility, and building acoustic performance with greater precision. This technology supports a more comprehensive and evidence-based approach to human-centered acoustic design, helping create healthier, more comfortable, and better-performing built environments.
