Acoustic Measurements in 360° Video: Background Noise, RT & STIPA

This video documents acoustic measurement activities using a 360° camera and microphone to record the surrounding environment and testing process. Presented in the Herwin Gunawan Work video library, it offers a view of fieldwork concerned with background noise, room reverberation, and speech intelligibility.

The measurement topics include:

  • Background noise, with reference to Noise Criteria (NC).

  • Reverberation time (RT), concerning the decay of sound within a space.

  • Speech Transmission Index for Public Address (STIPA), used to assess speech intelligibility through a public address system.

The 360° format allows viewers to explore the surroundings while following the documented activities. It provides spatial context for the fieldwork and helps communicate how acoustic testing takes place within an actual environment.

For architects, acoustic consultants, audiovisual designers, and facility teams, this entry provides a practical reference for understanding the scope of acoustic measurement work. The video serves as documentation; measured results and their interpretation belong in the accompanying technical assessment.

Part of Herwin Gunawan’s portfolio, this recording connects acoustic fieldwork with his focus on human-centered building performance and the experience of sound in architectural spaces.
