Recorded on site in July 2018, this field observation visits Esplanade – Theatres on the Bay, Singapore's landmark performing arts centre on Marina Bay. The video looks at how the building works in practice: how visitors move from the waterfront into the performance spaces, how the architecture creates atmosphere, and how acoustics, lighting and environmental comfort support live performance. Seeing a venue in use shows things drawings and specifications can't, such as how sound, light and space are actually experienced by audiences and performers. It's for architects, acoustic and lighting consultants, venue operators and anyone designing or managing cultural buildings.
